I listened to a Podcast that Brene Brown recorded with Emily and Amelia Nagoski on Burnout and How to Complete the Stress Cycle. It was a great confirmation of the way in which I am choosing to deal with emotions of anger and loss. Emily and Amelia recommended a number of methods we can use to complete this cycle one of which is creative expression. I've always found this to be the best tool for me as I move toward understanding and healing. I took a day to listen to an album on repeat (Cory Asbury's - To Love a Fool) and just put feelings to canvas. Gestural brush strokes, repetitious scratches and bleeding color now give a permanent place for my hurt to exist. And now I'm ready for these "sketches" to play out on a big canvas.
